Health Tip!
Did you know that all vitamins are not created equally?  Information below is taken from a handout I received from Wanda Cullison, RD during a dietary consult prior to starting chemotherapy.  Taking a multivitamin/ mineral supplement is a good foundation for your nutritional program.  However, many multi-vitamins do not provide the necessary nutrients in the proper form nor the appropriate amounts.  The following multi-vitamins are recommended, based on meeting the following criteria..

• Contain the d-alpha form of vitamin E, not the dl-alpha form
• Provide vitamin D in the cholecalciferol form
• Supply vitamin B12 in the cyanocobalamin form, not the methylcobalamin form
• Provide 100% of the Daily Value for biotin (or 300 mcg)
• Are not time-release multi-vitamins
• Do not contain fillers, artificial colors, talc, proplyene glycol and other such ingredients.

Below is a list of quality vitamins, the amount of pills needed to meet daily requirements and their retail cost.  Note number #10 on the list is our Shaklee Vita Lea.  You only need 2 per day and the retail cost is $12 for a 30 day supply!  This is a great way to make an improvement to your health.  I also hear so many people say, “I have so much energy!!!” since only adding the multivitamin.

Another great thing I LOVE about Shaklee is the science and research they put into every product.  For example, Folic Acid needs to be absorbed in your stomach.  Shaklee puts the Folic Acid in a special coating on the outside to the multivitamin tablet to ensure once it reaches your stomach you will abosorb 100% of the amount of Folic acid.  I love that Shaklee cares that much about providing a quality vitamin for us!

Have you had your Vitamin D level checked??? Vitamin D is also known as the "sunshine" vitamin. 80 % of Americans have insufficient levels of  Vitamin D.  Normal levels are 32-100.  Studies are saying if you increase your vitamin D levels to the high 80-90 range you can decrease your risk for Breast Cancer by 40%.  That is awesome.  Vitamin has also been shown to help with depression, flexibility, bone strength and support your immune system.  When choosing a vitamin D supplement you want it to be Vitamin D3 in the cholecalciferol form.  Shaklee offers this supplement 90 tabs for $7.95 member price.
